Castle View School proudly has an increasingly diverse population.
We have students that come to us with many languages and many of these students are talented in the use of English as an additional language (EAL). We hold an annual conference for all of our EAL learners and invite the students to have a voice in how and what they are taught. We create online surveys and discuss the outcomes. This is when the Ambassadors take the lead!
There are 2 Ambassadors; one from Key Stage 3 transitioning into Key Stage 4 and one student from Key Stage 4. The students were approached because of their experience and natural skills vital to such an important role. They jumped at the chance to become mentors, guides and the voice for EAL in the school. The students fed back to teaching staff all of their views and opinions which were gratefully received and used to aid teaching and learning. We are currently planning a communications conference which involves some fun activities. Watch this space to find out more!
