At Castle View School we are committed to ensuring that all students become competent readers in our drive to raise achievement and attainment.
We are also working hard to promote reading as a rewarding and enjoyable experience for everyone!
Our peer reading program provides an opportunity for older students to support younger students with their reading. It has also proven to be a great opportunity for students to form positive relationships with older peers
The program runs on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday morning in the LRC during form time; confident readers from Year 10 and Year 8 have volunteered to support our struggling readers in Year 7 and 8.
Students clearly enjoy this opportunity to read aloud to an older peer, reinforcing vital reading skills and in some cases providing some much needed motivation. Peer tutoring programs can improve the reading skills of tutors as well as tutees; they can help to build tutor's social skills as well.
